Low Vacuum Deydrators

LoVac 360
LoVac Logo

The Lo-Vac, vacuum dehydration system, quickly and efficiently removes water, gasses, and light hydrocarbons from oil. Oil is introduces to the system by pump or atmospheric pressure. The oil is heated by way of a low watt density fin tube heater(s) (flow switch protected) that is engineered to raise the oil temperature approximately 30°F per pass. Once heated, the oil is drawn into a vacuum chamber through coalescing elements sized to reduce the flow velocity, maximizing the oil's exposure to the vacuum conditions. Water (free, dissolved, and emulsified), dissolved gasses, air, and other low range volatiles are boiled off by a heat / vacuum process. The gasses are pulled off by a water ejector or vacuum pump and are immediatly condensed, typically by a tube and shell heat exchanger. Condensed moisture is either collected in a pot for disposal or sent to drain.

No additives or detergents are removed.

Features

  • Removes up to 1% water in a single pass.
  • Moisture removal to 50 ppm or better
  • Particulate Removal using ßx[c]=1000 Filter Elements
  • Does not remove costly additives.
  • Flow pattern does not agitate the oil.
  • Unit is modular.
  • Electrical: explosion / weather-proof enclosures.
  • Automatic controls designed for unattended operation.
  • Heater controls are solid state.

Vac-U-Dry

VAC-U-DRY Purification Process & Flow Diagram

Contaminated oil is drawn into the VAC-U-DRY purifier by a high output vacuum pump.  The oil passes through the low watt density heater where heated to optimum temperature for the dehydration process (150°F, 66°C).  The oil enters the vacuum chamber passing through specially designed dispersal elements which create a thin film of oil that is exposed to the vacuum.  The water is vaporized and then drawn into the condenser where it becomes liquid and drains into the condensate tank.

The dehydrated oil flows to the bottom of the vacuum chamber and is removed by the discharge pump.  The oil is pumped through the high efficiency particulate filter assembly (βx[c] >1000) and returned to the system.  The re-circulating line helps the VAC-U-DRY reach optimum temperature in cold start situations and can be used to throttle machine inlet and outlet flow.
